Empire of the Sun Making Its Mark

This week’s Mediabase chart is out this week and Empire of the Sun has made its way inside the top 10. We haven’t seen them reach the top 10 before, so we decided to investigate into this band further. The band formed in Synday back in 2007 and has been a major hit in Australia not surprisingly.

The band has released two albums in their time with the most recent being “Ice on the Dune” back in 2013. While they peaked at six and three in Australia, their two albums only reached 97 and 20 in the United States.

In 2009, Empire of the Sun received the most ARIA nominations of any band that year with 11. They would go on to win seven awards that year!

At the end of this past year, the band announced via social media that they would be releasing a new album in 2016. We have yet to hear an official date, but will keep our ears to the ground for that information.
