Love has always been the key ingredient to a popular song. From the Beatles “Love Me Do” in the early 60s, to “Love Yourself” by Justin Bieber; love conquers all. There are so many great love ballads out there that we decided to talk about it another day. Here’s part two!

“Waiting For a Girl Like You” by Foreigner came at the height of corporate rock, adding more fans to the fan base of an already popular group.

“Sister Christian” by Night Ranger is a song about the lead singer’s sister, but we didn’t care. The song was rich in harmony and meaningful lyrics. It was also the band’s biggest hit.

“Strong Enough” by newcomer Cheryl Crow became an anthem to women all across the land and kicked started this unknown Michael Jackson background singer.

“I’ll Make Love to You” by Boyz II Men is one of the best examples of a song with rich soulful harmonies that brought people of all color to the stage.

“Careless Whisper” by George Michael and Wham is a playful love song that MTV couldn’t air enough on the channel – solidifying George Michael as THE male ballad singer of his time.

“Cherish” by Kool and the Gang was the single most used wedding song in the mid-80s, proving that love is all that matters in life and in death.

Finally, what can you say about “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston? This song proved that Whitney stood alone as the most powerful female singer, perhaps of all time. Its use in the romantic movie ‘The Bodyguard’ starring Whitney and hunk Kevin Costner blew movie and music fans away.
