Ed Sheeran walked into the Grammys last night with just two nominations, so if you told him he’d walk away winning at least one of them we’re sure he’d be happy. This is exactly what happened, as he won one of the two awards on Monday night.

First, let’s discuss the win. He took home the Song of the Year beating out Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, Little Big Town, and Wiz Khalifa. “Thinking Out Loud” beat out an impressive list of songs, no small feat at this year’s Grammys.

The award Sheeran did not win was the Record of the Year. “Thinking Out Loud” could not take down the rest of the records nominated. Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars won the award for their record “Uptown Funk.” D’Angelo and the Vanguard, The Weeknd, and Taylor Swift were also nominated for this award.
