The 2016 NAACP Image Award Winners

The 47th Annual NAACP Image Awards took place on Friday night, but don’t think we forgot about it. There’s plenty to report on and a few big winners. First off, Anthony Anderson was the host of the event occurring at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. The event is meant to recognize the many talented actors and actresses and they certainly did on Friday night.

On the night, “Creed” and “Empire” really dominated the main movie categories. The two won five of these nine awards…

Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture: Michael B. Jordan, Creed
Outstanding Comedy Series: Black-ish
Outstanding Motion Picture: Straight Outta Compton
Outstanding Drama Series: Empire
Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series: Tracee Ellis Ross, Black-ish
Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture: Sanaa Lathan, The Perfect Guy
Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series: Terrence Howard, Empire
Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series: Taraji P. Henson, Empire
