Earlier this week, the Red Hot Chili Peppers had to bow out of their performance spot at this year’s Billboard Music Awards “due to unforeseen circumstances.”
To take their place, Machine Gun Kelly and Dan + Shay have now been added to this weekend’s lineup.
The 2022 BBMAs will be MGK’s debut performance at the event. He is also a finalist in the top rock artist category, which he won in 2021 in addition to taking home the top rock album for 2020’s Tickets to My Downfall.
Dan + Shay previously performed at the BBMAs in 2019, the same year they won the top country duo/group award. They are once again nominated for the same category this year.
Other performers at the 2022 BBMAs this weekend are Travis Scott, Ed Sheeran, Miranda Lambert, Elle King, Morgan Wallen, Florence + the Machine, Maxwell, Silk Sonic, Becky G, Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, Rauw Alejandro, and Burna Boy, and this year’s Icon Award recipient, Mary J. Blige.
The 2022 Billboard Music Awards will be hosted by Sean “Diddy” Combs and will take place on Sunday, May 15, on NBC and Peacock.
