Miranda Lambert recently opened up about her very public divorce from fellow country singer Blake Shelton nearly seven years ago.

Lambert, like many celebrities whose personal matters end up on magazine covers, dealing with speculating tabloids was overwhelming.

“I wasn’t prepared for that,” the singer said. “Well, I don’t think anybody is. And it’s not nice sometimes.”

She went on to explain that writing music about the experience is what got her through it. “I think you got to take it with a grain of salt and know that I’m a singer-songwriter so luckily I can tell my whole truth,” Lambert shared. “I will not lie in my music.”

Lambert, who has been married to her now-husband Brendan McLoughlin since 2019, is glad for where her past took her.

“I’ve also grown up and I’ve learned a lot about myself and I think at some point you start to settle into who you are,” she continued. “I think that’s why you feel that peace coming from me, because I feel at peace with myself.”
