Coming off the news of LOEWE‘s extended support of Studio Ghibli’s Museum, the two cultural institutions announce they will team up again for a new limited-edition collection.

The upcoming collection will mark the second installment in the brand’s collaboration, where LOEWE draws inspiration from the hit animation Spirited Away. Fans can expect to see the movie’s iconic characters, such as Chihiro and Haku, incorporated in a line of sweatshirts, trousers and outerwear garments. Similar to the debut collection, the range will also include quirky winter accessories and whimsical leather bags.

Spirited Away is the story of 10-year-old Chihiro Ogino, transported to the wonderful and terrifying world of Japanese spirits (Kami) in a bid to save her parents from a curse inflicted by a witch named Yubaba. It’s hard to describe the movie’s appeal, if you haven’t seen it. The animation is stunning, of course, affecting a dreamlike atmosphere that befits the lush score, whimsical characters, and gently moving plot.

Teaser imagery of LOEWE’s Spirited Away collection is especially vague, showing close-ups of some leather goods printed with the visages of Chihiro, No-Face, Chihiro’s silent companion, and Yubaba. Boh, Yubaba’s giant child who gets turned into a mouse, also appears and even informs some of LOEWE’s vague teaser imagery.

The only concrete information about the forthcoming Spirited Away line is that it launches in January, with more information to be revealed closer to the launch date.

Registration for early access to the Spirited Away collab can be had on LOEWE’s website until end of day on January 3; those who sign up will be able to shop the collection on January 6, the day before it launches on January 7.
