Stephen Sondheim ha muerto a los 91 años

Stephen Sondheim, uno de los compositores más notables de la historia de Broadway, falleció el viernes por la mañana temprano en Roxbury, Connecticut. Tenía 91 años.

Sondheim escribió música, letras o ambos para programas icónicos como “West Side Story”, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum”, “Sweeney Todd” y muchos otros.

El compositor teatral ganador del premio Tony también escribió la banda sonora de “Sunday in the Park”, que fue galardonado con el premio Pulitzer de drama de 1985. Otros logros increíbles de Sondheim incluyen: el Kennedy Center Honors por su trayectoria, la Medalla Presidencial de la Libertad del presidente Barack Obama, un premio Tony por su trayectoria e incluso una casa de Broadway en West 43rd Street, que fue rebautizada en su honor.

El abogado y amigo de Sondheim, F. Richard Pappas, anunció su fallecimiento. Dijo que se desconocía la causa de la muerte; No se sabía que Sondheim estuviera enfermo.
