Sonni Pacheco, actress and ex-wife of Jeremy Renner, filed for divorce from the Marvel star back in 2019 claiming that he was abusive toward her. While Renner has historically chosen not to publicly acknowledge these claims, he has recently shared a response to the matter.

“I don’t respond publicly or privately to nonsense,” the Mayor of Kingstown star stated in a recent interview. “It only empowers it. If you respond to it, you give it gas. I don’t fuel s—t fires. I just don’t do it. I refuse to.”

Pacheco and Renner were married from 2014 to 2015 and now are separated with joint custody of their 8-year-old daughter, Ava. Pacheco’s claims in the divorce said that Renner struggled with “ongoing substance abuse” and that he threatened violence because he “wanted her gone.” Renner, at the time, claimed that Pacheco was the one who was abusing drugs and alcohol in their relationship.

Then, in 2020, Pacheco filed new court documents requesting that her ex-husband undergo routine drug tests. Renner claimed, in response, that “there is absolutely no basis for this Court to grant the requested relief with respect to a drug test.”

The tumultuous relationship between the actors continues to go back-and-forth, with Renner’s recent public comments inciting a potential remark from Pacheco herself.
