Over the weekend, Sarah Jessica Parker, AKA Carrie Bradshaw, did not hold back when calling out the misogynistic criticisms of Sex And The City’s upcoming revival season. Most of the negative comments, in particular, were made about the age of the returning actresses.

“It almost feels as if people don’t want us to be perfectly okay with where we are,” Parker said in a recent interview, negating the criticisms as sexist commentary. “[It’s] as if they almost enjoy us being pained by who we are today, whether we choose to age naturally and not look perfect, or whether you do something if that makes you feel better.”

The actress also pointed out how she gets more negativity about her age than her male peers do, referencing a photo of herself and Andy Cohen having a meal together in NYC earlier this year; tabloids and social media commenters had plenty to say about her gray hairs, but apparently didn’t bat much of an eye toward Cohen’s.

“I know what I look like. I have no choice,” Parker stated. “What am I going to do about it? Stop aging? Disappear?”

The Sex And The City revival called “And Just Like That…” is set to premiere next month with 10 episodes.
