James Michael Tyler AKA Gunther From Friends Dies at 59

Friends fans across the globe mourn the loss of a show alum behind one of the most iconic characters: James Michael Tyler, who played Gunther.

A rep for Taylor has said that he “passed away peacefully Sunday morning at his home in L.A.” He was 59-years old and was battling stage 4 prostate cancer, a diagnosis that the actor revealed only earlier this year. 

As the beloved “7th Friend,” Taylor starred in 150 episodes of Friends. His family says of the actor, musician, and advocate: “If you met him once you made a friend for life.”
