38 Special is still out on the road rocking, 40+ years after beginning their musical journey in 1974 out of Jacksonville, FL. The band has released 13 albums, selling nearly 50 million records, fueled with iconic rock tunes like “Hold on Loosely,” “Caught Up in You,” “Back Where You Belong” and “Wild Eyed Southern Boys.”

The band’s story about the origin of their name is an interesting story. One day, while rehearsing in a broken down condemned warehouse they heard a knock at the door. They didn’t have a key to open to door to what they thought might have been burglars (it was actually the local authorities) and one of the policeman threatened the boys with a ’38 special’, and the rest is music history.
