Can you believe that it was 25 years ago this past Saturday that one of the greatest rock hits of our generation was released? We’re talking about Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and we’re shocked that it’s already been 25 years.
This past Saturday, Sept. 10, the single was released off of Nirvana’s album, “Nevermind.” The single was the lead single and boy was it a great one. The song would peak at number six on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and of course was the top hit on the their Alternative Songs chart.
The music video for this hit would go on to win two MTV Video Music Awards and would top charts in New Zealand, Spain, France and Belgium to go along with the number one placing on the aforementioned Billboard chart.
With the passing of Kurt Cobain, many have always looked back and thought “Smells Like Teen Spirit” was the greatest song from Nirvana, but maybe of all time.
